Fall is the time of cozying up and relaxing with a nice hot cocoa and a good book. So of course, I thought I’d share my fall reading list with you guys! Some I’ve already read, some are on my books-to-read list, and a complete mix of genres.
PSA, school, or work can be stressful and overwhelming, and you might feel burnt out. But I promise you’re doing a lot better than you put yourself out to be, you got this! A couple more weeks till fall break where you can relax and read whenever you want!
PSA part 2, saving a tiny bit of time in your day for reading, or doing anything that is peaceful and you enjoy is such a good method of self-care. Reading especially allows you to take your mind off of everyday stressors and enter a world entirely of your choosing. So even if you’re against reading, give it a chance, I’m sure if you found the right book you’d love it!
Anyway, here’s my Fall 2023 Reading List:
Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
I’ve read this book before and loved it, so I might be a bit biased, but this is one of the best coming-of-age stories of all time. The main character Charlie is the sweetest high school kid who is just trying to make friends and be happy all while suffering from PTSD. The character building for the all main characters was excellent. They each had their own story that plays a role in how they act and who they become and allows the reader to feel more connected. It felt like each high school perspective was being told despite the book only being from Charlie’s point of view.
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas
Okay, tell me if I’m wrong but summer is for cutesy romance books while fall and winter are for fantasy. I’ve read all five books of the ACOTAR series. I can’t even put into words how much I enjoyed these books. The second one was bar far my favorite. To summarize the books would be impossible because there’s so much plot, but the first three books follow a girl named Feyre Aercheron. She lives with her two older sisters and her father in a small cottage, where she hunts for food to survive. One day, she kills a wolf, which is really a fae, and she’s forced to live the rest of her days on the other side of the human-fae wall. So much more happens and I can’t even begin to explain it, but trust me it’s so worth the read.
Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
Sarah J Mass is here again because she is, in my opinion, the best fantasy writer today. Her story building, character arcs, and plotlines are so good, leaving you devouring all twenty-something of her books. I have only just started reading Throne of Glass but so far it’s really good. Literally couldn’t tell you what it’s about, but people say it’s better than ACOTAR, so I’m eating it up right now. I would say to start with the ACOTAR series, just cause they’re easier to get into if you’re not used to reading fantasy.
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
This is the one book I haven’t read that I have watched the movie. I’m actually obsessed with the Little Women movie that came out in 2019, definitely watch it if you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t yet. Anyway, reading the book is definitely on my fall reading list. I feel like the story is so comforting. It’s about four sisters growing up in the 1860s. Each sister has her own goals, skills, and passions, and the book explains their complex relationships with each other.
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
I’ve never read this book or anything by the author, but I put my trust in BookTok. People on TikTok have been going insane about this book, and it’s literally just the first in the series. All I know is that it takes place at a training camp, there are dragons involved, hot love interests, etc. I don’t know about you, but I’m sold.
Milkweed by Jerry Spinelli
This is another book I’ve read before, and plan to reread. Milkweed is definitely a quick read, but the story literally kills me to this day. It’s about a boy in Warsaw, Poland, during WWII. It is told entirely from his perspective, and his nativity and youth just breaks my heart. He is eventually taken in by a group of orphans, who are trying to survive the horrors of the Holocaust.
Thanks so much for reading! Comment any other books I should add to my Reading List. I hope have a great week!
